Japan and Covid-19 – Meticulous, Slow, Strategic yet oddly Working to Flatten it’s Curve

I’m reading news and reading comments. And checking people’s reactions. I see anger, frustration, confusion and also I see a lack of understanding.

Some people think japan is not doing enough. Some think japan is naive. And yes the Olympics is another thing too.

However, after reading this Wikipedia article on the timeline of how japan is handling this they are going about this very methodically and strategically. It may appear slow and unmoving. But look at what actions they have taken.

  1. Immigration tightening into Japan
  2. Specialist in each prefecture to monitor outbreaks.
  3. Disneyland and Universal closed
  4. Museums have shut down
  5. Workers are telecommuting when they can
  6. Schools have been shut down

All of this happened around the end of February beginning of March.

But once again the numbers speak for themselves. There is a wave coming. But the last few weeks is not because Japan is lucky it’s because Japan is quietly working on slowing this down at the same time knowing they can’t stop it.

There is an expected rise in the number of cases. And we will see that soon starting in Tokyo. But it doesn’t have to be as bad as people think or make it out to be.

Reading the timeline in the wiki article and seeing the actions taken… I don’t think it’s ideal to be so quick to say that the Japanese government is not doing anything. They are actually doing a lot.

It’s when people start to panic and freak out and speak loudly about how bad this is getting. They fail to look to see what has been done to this point. For every negative point brought up think of a positive.

Look at what Japan has done to this point. Their is reason for everything. Saving the economy, pondering the Olympics, worry of hospitals being overwhelmed…

The moves and measures are calculated.

I feel the most important thing is for us to use our common sense to take care of ourselves and our families.

If people don’t like the way Japan is handling this look at the other examples around the world… how is Japan doing?

Instead of complaining about testing and pointing fingers at the government let’s do our best to focus on ourselves. The government is moving at a rate that could be better but they are moving and doing things day to day. We don’t have to rely or wait on their actions. We can take action ourselves anytime.

Let us focus on doing our part in preventing spreading this virus. Even if you don’t have it pretend like you do.

  1. Wash your hands
  2. Practice social distancing.
  3. Wear a mask in public.
  4. Use alcohol gel to sanitize.
  5. Stay home if there is no need to go out.
  6. Shop for the essentials.
  7. Don’t have a freak and go on a tirade.

Let’s do our part. Be safe. Do what you can to help others in being aware. We are in this together.

Peace.
